Spring Flowers

Hello to you all!  I hope that spring has been a good time for you!  I know it has for me.

Here is a small collection of some of my favorite flower photographs.  They might not have all been taken during spring time, yet when I look at them, all I can think about is spring.  A few great quotes about spring to start things off as well.

Enjoy, and thank you for viewing!  Jason

“Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring?”                                    ~Neltje Blanchan

30 Day Commitment to MYSELF!

English: Wal calendar

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” ~Nido Qubein

I read somewhere recently that it takes about 30 days of doing something everyday to turn it into a habit.  These things can be good or bad for you, either way it will be something that you will start doing without thinking.

Over the weekend I found a website that is pretty awesome!  www.stumbleupon.com is the site, and what it does is asks you a few questions about topic that you like, and then it finds you websites, blogs, photo’s, videos, and anything else on the web that is trending in the categories that you want to know about.

In my path to personal growth and improvement, I was pleasantly surprised when the first site that stumbleupon popped up was an incredible blog on self-improvement and motivation.  www.marcandangel.com is the site.  Nothing on there is stuff that I didn’t know, but it was just seeing it there just kind of made me think that I can still do more for myself, and it wont even be that much more difficult of a day then I already have.

“Dont judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.” ~Robert Louis Stevenson

So, I have made a commitment to myself for the next 30 days.  I have written a list of 10 items to stick with for the next month.  There are actually stuff on the list that is not an everyday activity, yet they are still things that are important enough to me now that they need to be addressed!  So, here is my commitment to me:

  1. Read and take notes on book “Path to Liberty”
  2. Write a “To-Do” list everyday and finish it!
  3. Give at least 1 stranger a compliment EVERYDAY
  4. Clean my room and KEEP it clean and organized
  5. Use lumosity.com everyday
  6. Post and sell 7 things that I don’t need/use anymore on Craigslist or eBay.
  7. Lose 15 pounds – Start:                      Finish:
  8. Meditate 15 minutes a day
  9. Spend 1 hour a day doing healthy activities: gym, bike, disc golf, hike, swim, or anything else that will help me be healthier
  10. Study on how to make a personal budget, make one, and stick to it.

To top off the list, I am committing to writing a paragraph or two every night on my day, what I did, how I did it, and how I feel about it.

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” ~Theodore Roosevelt

I am confident that I will take on this challenge, look it in the face, and get it done!  Even with the roadblocks that I know (and have already started to encounter 2 hours into my challenge), that I will succeed, and come out on the other side a better me!

Thanks for spending your valuable time with me today!  You are very appreciated!  Take care, and have a wonderful day!

Jason

Happy New Year!

Happy new year

Happy new year (Photo credit: Amodiovalerio Verde)

“The old year has gone.  Let the dead past bury its own dead.  The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time.  All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!” ~Edward Payson Powell

Here is raising my glass to a wonderful New Year!

…What, its April.  Whats going on?

Well, for those new readers of mine, I celebrated my 34th birthday over the past weekend.  April 6th to be exact!

I wont spend too much time talking about the weekend, even though it was so incredible, instead I will be talking about my coming year, and some goals that I have been setting.

Last weekend started out with a bang, and a busy cyclone of things to do, to get ready for the weekend, and so that I could just take the 3 days off, and not worry about anything but having a great time!

Friday night started out at my favorite bar.  The Honor Bar in Emeryville, CA.  There was

about 10 of us hanging out, having a couple of drinks, enjoying awesome food and playing pinball!  This was just waiting around until 10:15pm when my most anticipated movie of 2013 was starting, The Evil Dead.

I had to wake up early on Saturday, to get some things done for the BBQ that I was having.  I had previously made sausage filling, I just needed to stuff about 25# into casings for the party.  Then packed up my stuff, and drove to Moraga Commons Park for a day full of family (my dad has the same Bday, and this was the first year in at least 6-7 that we have hung out ON our birthday), about 30 of the most awesome people who I know, incredible BBQ potluck lunch, drinking, bocce ball, and disc golf.  What a BLAST!

Sunday was the SF Giants game, most specifically, the 2012 World Series Ring Ceremony, with replica ring give away!  To bad we got annihilated!

Now, MY New Year.  I have many plans for this year.  Most of you may know that I am working on opening my restaurant.  It has been started, and I have been working on it for a couple of months now, but this week it is really beginning.  For my birthday, I received a bit of seed money so that I can get the LLC registered.  I will also be able to get it registered with the government, the trademarks, the state and federal tax ID number, and a business license.

This is so exciting!  It is really happening!  When I opened the check at my party, I cried.  I am still crying now!  Just thinking about it, I get knots in my stomach.  I wrote in the past about “ass puckering” goals.  Well, this really is one.  I was crying happy tears, but I was also crying tears of fear.  Just thinking about it really happening makes my stomach hurt.

I know this time will pass, yet the voice in my head keeps asking if I am in to deep.  Thankfully I have a great support system that is always there to help me remember that I am awesome, and that I can accomplish ANYTHING that I want!

Here is to a Happy New Year!

“Golf is a good walk spoiled.” ~Mark Twain

Since the beginning of my adventure into a better me, I have tried new things.  This blog is one.  Giving up on looking for a job so that I can start my business is another.  I am stepping out of my norm, and trying things that make me vulnerable.  These things are making my body ache, and my brain perform in ways that it never has.

I have needed something to help me relax.  To make me get outside, and enjoy nature.  Great thing is what I have found will also help me to lose the weight that I am working on.

What is this you ask?

I have started playing disc golf.

You don’t know what this is.  It is just what it sounds like.  Think golf, but played with frisbees!  Over the last 2 weeks, I have been out and played three times on different courses in the bay area.

What an awesome sport this is!  I really don’t know why I didn’t begin this sooner!  It really helps me to unwind after days of working hard!  It is great to be out in the sun, hanging with friends, and just enjoying the day!

One difficult thing about it though, like most everything else that I have done in my life, I just jump straight in to learn as much as I can.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, but now I am finding that I am being distracted in other points of my life.

When I should be working on the computer, I’ll pull up a page to research new disc’s, or to learn a different technique to help me throw farther or straighter!

I guess I just have to work that much harder on keeping myself disciplined during the times that I know I should be working on something else.

Well, here is to you!  Thank you again for coming to spend your time with you!

If you play disc golf and are in the SF Bay Area, leave me a comment, I would love to go throw a round with you!  If you are not in the Bay Area and play, still let me know!  I would love to hear your tips and technique idea’s, or even just to know what you throw with…there are so many discs, that it is hard for a beginner to know what to get

It’s Up To ME

from: www.itsnotpaintdesigns.com
“Think highly of yourself because the world takes you at your own estimate.” ~Unknown

Yeah, here I am as promised!  Following the word that I gave to you yesterday.  It was not even difficult for me to get set up.  I wanted to be here.  After all, “It’s Up To Me!”

I lived for many years just going with the flow.  Trying to do as little as possible just to get by.  I had a good life.  I still got a lot of things accomplished that I wanted to do.  I mean, I saw the world, I went to school and got 2 degree’s (in ten years!), and I was making decent money.

“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”                 ~Abraham Lincoln

The thing was, though I made things happen, and I got what wanted, but I was a procrastinator.  My first degree took me going to and dropping out of the local junior college for around four years.  You think for years at college, sounds right, I only have an associate degree, 2 year!  Either way, my second associates degree came 4 years after that!

I have learned recently that “If it’s to be, it’s up to me.” I guess this post is getting filled with quotes!  I don’t know who said this one, and a quick google search gave me at least 8 different name!  It does not matter who said it.  What matters is how I think about it, and how I live my life by it.

I know that what ever I want to happen in my life, that I am the one to make it to the finish.  As I said in a previous post, I write my own book.

It still is tough to overcome the obstacles that get in my way.  Am I still a procrastinator, yes I will always be.  I just know that if it wasn’t for my procrastination, I could have gotten a lot more done in my life.  Not just the minimum.

It is a struggle every day to make things happen, but I do.  It is great that I have great support from most of the people around me.  I am glad when they step up and call me out on the BS.

Well, I think this is enough for now!  I have some things I need to make happen!

Take care, thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!

Jason

PS:  Thank you to everyone that supports me through this venture.  With all of your help, lifeafterpsi.com had its best day ever!  Even broke 4 of its previous records!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
